thoughts on my heart

we are on an adventure – we have been put here and half the time we have no idea exactly what kind of story we are in and we rarely question the bigger picture – we get so caught up in our worlds and the soap opera’s around us that we forget that there is a bigger story and a bigger reason that we are here. But, our heart, the place where Jesus resides, knows exactly why we are here and God speaks to us through it – pulling us towards his greater purpose. You can drown out his voice by keeping busy and always making sure that you are always going- like the energizer bunny with a purpose and a plan – but have you ever stopped to wonder if your plan has anything to do with the plan you have designed in your head – have you recently stopped to listen – and I mean really listen to what God is saying to your heart… have you heard him whispering to you late at night – asking you if you want something more – if you are thirsty for what this world can never supply? This voice is not asking you to go out and do more for the church – he isn’t asking you to take yourself your life and consume yourself in the church – yes he wants us to be part of the church – but he is not asking us to do more then we can handle or to burn ourselves out. He wants you to love he – he longs to be in a love affair with you and reminding you that you were made for something more … and I’m not telling you something you don’t already know … cause we all know that our heart aches for more – and until we slow down and love God and ask him to share himself with us – we will always have that deep longing in our hearts for all God has for us.

The real problems lies in the fact that we have lost our hearts – they have been broken and bruised from the attacks that satan is relentlessly putting attacking us with and until we realize that we are being slaughtered with individualized arrows coming directly from satan himself – who knows your past and knows your weakness and preys on them . He is not happy unless we are miserable. He does everything in his power to destroy us and to prevent any chance of us becoming the person God is longing for us to be and keeping us away from the relationship that God so desperately wants from us. And the more oblivious to his attacks we are the more harm he can do because we are giving him the freedom to continually hit us on the targets and continue the battle plans that he has for each and every one of us. We are in the midst of a war guys and not the kind of war that you can see – but a spiritual war – one where Satan plays dirty and will reek havoc in our lives as much as we allow him to. And somehow we blame most of our problems on God and think that he is holding out on us… well, he’s not – we are holding out on ourselves – all God wants is to Love you and for you to love him so much – for you to just burst with love for him and want to learn about him and who he is – to know him inside out.

"Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other" Galations 5:24 - 26

"be very careful, then, how you live - not as unwise, but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is" Eph. 5:15-17

You see, as we go thru life, we start to doubt our place, to question God’s intentions and loose track of the more important things of life- to sum it up we have lost our hearts – we have forgotten how central the heart is that it is the place where God resides – the heart is not evil – the world is evil and satan is evil and he preys on it conveniently persuades you to believe that God is holding out on you – but as I said before – we are at war and doing very little to fight back. And we should not forget that the days are evil and satan is seeking our souls and doing everything he can to trip us up.

All the things in life that have affected you and wounded you and have been individual to you are ways that the evil one continues to attack your heart and keep you from coming into God’s glory and into a true relationship with him. We have lost the idea that He is to be our first love – and all that it entails. We all have those moments in life that we remember that have scarred us – the ones that have had the most impact on who we have become – I know I have mine and they affect the way I look at myself and the way that I interact with the world and mainly with God – there are so many wounds from satan that have hit me in places in my life that have hurt me deeply and have left me feeling worthless and not good enough and always full of fear. Satan will use anything and anyone that he can to get certain messages across to you – and he has planned each assault our carefully and with delicate and deliberate planning for each and every one of you to keep you at less then you were meant to be.

LOTR – at the end of fellowship of the ring Frodo remembers a conversation he has with Gandolf, he says, “I wish the ring had never come to me” and Gandolf answers back, “it is not for you to decide. What you have to decide is what you are going to do with the time that is given to you”. This is an example of the fact that we can’t wish things away that God has given us to do or the role he has wanted us to play – but he does give us the choice on how to live and whether or not we actually do the tasks and play the roles that he has put on our hearts – that’s the thing about God – he always gives us the choice – he loves us enough that when he made us – he gave us free will – he could have made us all robots all programmed to do his wishes and follow his commands, but he didn’t – he wanted people to come to the decision to love him and follow after him with a relentless passion for him and for his kingdom – to want to get to know him – have an ache to learn his heart inside and out - to love him above all things and choose to be romanced by him and loved by him in return… so whatever it is that God is moving in you – listen to him and what he is saying – give him some of your time – set aside the time to really get to know him – because when it comes down to it – it is up to you whether you listen or not – he is waiting

“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.” Revelation 3:20

The road that God takes you down will not always be the easier one and he may ask you to do things and call you in ways that may not seem inviting or fun – but whatever it is – he will give you the strength you need and he will never leave you or forsake you – you have his promise in that – you are never alone in anything you do … and furthermore he gives you more then enough to conquer anything the enemy throws at you – Eph. 6: 10 – 17 - he gives us armour – that we seldom use and rarely understand how to – pray into it – I suggest you read the passage and understand that God didn’t send us into battle alone – he is not only here with us – but he equips us with all the necessary armour that a soldier will need in this battle to protect us and our hearts from being slaughtered from satan and his followers.
For, if we don’t take the time to slow down and have God speak to us, we will not be ready for all that God wants to do through us. He wants us to be prepared to enter battle and to fulfill the part of the body of Christ that we were made for. So, I guess I just want to point out that God so wants us to notice him and spend time with him and then once we are properly equipt for this war, then we can go out and fight the good fight and be Jesus to the poor and the needy of this world and have God work through us his good and perfect will.
